Chuang Deng receives 2010 Acta Student Award
Chuang Deng, a postdoctoral fellow at MIT, who received a PhD in Materials Science in 2009 from the University of Vermont’s College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (CEMS), has received the 2010 Acta Student Award for his contributions to the manuscript entitled, “Fundamental Differences in the Plasticity of Periodically Twinned Nanowires in Au, Ag, Al, Cu, Pb and Ni “ published in the December 2009 issue of the journal Acta Materialia. Only two students each year receive this prestigious international award.
Along with this award, Chuang received $2,000 and will be honored at the 2010 Materials Science & Technology Meeting in Houston, Texas in October 2010 during a special recognition ceremony.
“This international award speaks highly of Chuang’s accomplishments and reflects his unique contributions to this field,” said Frederic Sansoz, associate professor in the School of Engineering within UVM’s CEMS. Chuang conducted research in his laboratory while at UVM.
